Currently, our campers come to us through three Charlotte based nonprofit organizations, The Greater Enrichment Program, Refugee Support Services, and Freedom School Partners. If you are affiliated with these organizations, your child has the opportunity to apply for camp through the leadership of each respective program. Each program selects which children will be sent to camp in the late spring - early summer.
If you are unsure of who to reach out to in order to inquire about the application and enrollment process, please reach out to Amy and Dom at campbobdirectors@gmail.com to be pointed in the right direction. We look forward to working with you and your children!
Camp Bob for the Queen City is 100% free for all of our campers! Thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors and donors, all tuition fees and additional expenses are completely taken care of. All we need from you is completed paperwork and your trust in us to provide a beautiful week of camp for your child.
Please note that if there are any challenges packing for your child's stay at camp, and you need support, we have plenty of donated items that we can provide for your child discretely at anytime throughout their stay with us.
Clean Clothing- We need to ensure that our campers are changing their clothing daily. Please do your best to send your children to camp with enough weather appropriate clothing for a week spent outdoors.
Appropriate Clothing- Sometimes different programs require different clothing or shoes. Please pack clothes that are allowed to get messy, modest one piece bathing suits, comfortable and appropriate shorts and t-shirts, and close-toed shoes.
Toiletries- Campers get messy, sweaty, and dirty at camp. All campers are expected to shower each night. Please do your best to pack your camper enough toiletries for the week.
Medications- It is imperative that all of our campers medications be handled safely. All medications are to be kept in the nurse’s office, in their original packaging. We will not give any child any medication without explicit consent and instruction from their guardian as stated in the Health and Medication portion of our registration packet. Medications must be given to the Development Coordinator, Ken Loeber, at drop off. Please ensure all medications provided include enough doses for the full camp session.
Food- We make sure that our campers have three nutritious meals every day and have healthy and allergen free snacks available for all campers. Campers packing food in their suitcases is strictly prohibited. Any food items brought to camp will be removed from their possession immediately upon arrival. Food and beverages in the cabin (other than water) can attract bugs and other unwanted pests and can be an allergen trigger for their cabin mates.
Electronics- Campers may not, under any circumstances, come to camp with any electronics. In the case of an emergency, campers can communicate with their families via phone through the Camp Nurse or Camp Directors. For any other concerns, families may contact the Directors.
Campers all travel together to and from camp on two charter buses. There will be a designated meeting time and location communicated directly to you with instructions for the mornings of drop off and pick up. You will bring your child/children and their luggage to the buses and check in with the Camp Bob for the QC Development Coordinator to review paperwork and hand off any medications if needed. Once that is complete, campers will board the buses, a final headcount will be taken to ensure no one is missing from or added to our roster, and they will hit the road up to camp!
On the final morning of camp, we will follow the same boarding procedure, and all campers will be bused back to the same meeting point that you dropped them off at. If for any reason there is a delay in departure from camp that would result in a delayed pick up, an updated pick up time window will be communicated to you.
Unless there is an emergency, we do not allow phone calls or FaceTimes between campers and their families while they are at camp. The reason for this being that calls home tend to take a camper out of the camp experience and significantly increase their feelings of home sickness.
If for any reason, you need to get a message to your camper or want to check in on how they are doing, you may contact Co-Director, Amy Loeber via email, text, or phone call. While we understand that it can be challenging to be apart, please know that, upon request, we are always happy to pass along a message from you to your child or send a brief message or photo update to you about how your child is doing throughout the week. Feel free to shoot us an email with words of love or encouragement that you'd like for us to print out and deliver to your child directly, and we will be sure to do so within 24 hours of receiving it.
We take the trust you instill in us very seriously and will do anything we can to work with our campers' families to ensure they have the best time at camp possible!
