This was my first year volunteering at Camp Bob, and honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. I remember sitting on the bus ride up the mountain feeling so nervous and wondering what the week would be like. I had so many thoughts running through my head, but as soon as I arrived, those worries slowly started to disappear. Thanks to the amazing volunteers, the welcoming atmosphere, and, of course, Camp Bob itself, I quickly realized that I had nothing to be nervous about.
My first time volunteering at Camp Bob was nothing short of amazing. There was something so special about being surrounded by so many people who were excited to be there and ready to make memories. Even now that I’m no longer at camp, there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t find myself singing one of the camp chants, laughing about something that happened, or thinking about all the fun I had. It’s almost like a little piece of Camp Bob followed me home.
One of my favorite things about Camp Bob is that it gives kids a space where they can simply be kids. They get to run around, laugh until their stomachs hurt, sing at the top of their lungs, make new friends, and create memories they might carry with them for years. I’ve watched kids from completely different backgrounds meet for the first time and, within just a few days, become the best of friends. Watching those friendships grow so quickly is something truly special. I truly am counting down the days for Camp Bob next year!!
